Group shared taxi booking in Meghalaya: seats together, or the whole cab
Travelling as a group in Meghalaya? How to book seats together on a shared taxi, when it is cheaper to take the whole vehicle, and what the full-cab discount is.
Groups get the worst of both worlds at a physical taxi stand: too many of you to slot into one cab that is already half full, too few to justify chartering.
Booking seats together
Booking online solves the first problem. You choose your seats on the same vehicle in one transaction, so you are not split across two cabs leaving forty minutes apart. Pick the tier that fits — a Sedan takes three passengers, an Ertiga six, an Innova seven, a Tata Sumo eight.
When to take the whole cab
Once your group fills most of a vehicle, taking every seat is usually better. You get the cab to yourselves, you leave when you are ready rather than when it fills, and a full-cab discount comes off the total automatically.
The maths is simple: count your group, look at the tier capacity, and if you are within one or two seats of filling it, book the lot.
Luggage matters more than you think
One bag travels on any cab. Two or more per booking need a vehicle with real boot space — an Ertiga or a Tata Sumo. A group of four with four suitcases in a Sedan is a problem discovered at the pickup point, which is the worst place to discover it.
