Guwahati airport to Shillong by taxi: fares, timings and pickup
Landing at Guwahati airport and heading to Shillong? Distance, drive time, what a shared seat costs versus a private cab, and where the taxi stand is at LGB.
Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi airport (LGB) is 125 km from Shillong — about three and a half hours on NH-6 through Jorabat and Nongpoh.
What it costs
- Shared seat: roughly ₹700–₹900 per person depending on the vehicle tier
- Whole cab: the sum of the seats, with a full-cab discount applied
Tolls at Khanapara and Jorabat come to about ₹150 each way and are part of the fare on a booked seat.
Arriving late
The last comfortable departure is early evening. After about 7 PM, sharing stops being practical — there are not enough passengers to fill a cab — so late arrivals are full-cab only. If your flight lands after dark, budget for the whole vehicle or plan a night in Guwahati.
Where the stand is
Prepaid and app-booked cabs pick up outside the terminal. If you have reserved a seat in advance you will get the driver's name, phone number and vehicle registration before departure, which matters at an airport rank where every third person will offer you a car.
Do not skip the photo stop
Umiam Lake is about two-thirds of the way up and worth fifteen minutes. Any sensible driver stops there without being asked.
