Bangalore to Shillong: how to actually get there (2026)

Bangalore to Shillong is one flight to Guwahati and one taxi up the hill. The trap is that the Bangalore–Guwahati route has a thin schedule — three or four daily flights, most of them one-stop via Kolkata or Delhi — so flight-plus-taxi timing is more fragile than it is from Delhi or Kolkata. Direct Bangalore → Guwahati runs on IndiGo (daily morning) and Air India (not daily). One-stop via Kolkata or Delhi is more common.

• One-stop via Kolkata: 5h to 7h total depending on layover. Lands late afternoon.
• One-stop via Delhi: 7h to 9h total. Mostly red-eye combinations.

Prices in clear season: ₹6,500 to ₹10,500 direct, ₹5,500 to ₹8,500 one-stop. Monsoon drops roughly 25%.

Pick the direct morning flight if you can afford it. The one-stop options reliably land you in Guwahati after 6 PM, which means driving to Shillong in the dark — not dangerous on NH-6 but tiring and dulls the first impression.

From Guwahati airport to Shillong

LGBI (Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi) is 125 km from Shillong, 3.5 hours on NH-6.

The timing rule

Any Bangalore → Guwahati flight landing after 4 PM means book a hotel in Guwahati for the night, drive to Shillong next morning. Driving tired after a 7-hour one-stop journey is bad for everyone.

Hotel options near LGBI: Radisson Blu Guwahati (airport side), several mid-range options in Jalukbari and Paltan Bazar if you prefer the city. Shared cabs resume at 4–5 AM so you can still start Day 1 in Shillong by 9 AM.

For returning to Bangalore
